Brief description of organisation

Ratamo Printmaking and Photography Centre includes Galleria Ratamo along with both printmaking and photography studios, and is geared for those interested in creating, experimenting and learning printmaking and photographic techniques.

Galleria Ratamo presents primarily printmaking and photography exhibitions.

The Ratamo centre is designed for both professionals and amateurs. The space is also used for classes and workshops which are organized by both Ratamo and other organizations such as the Adult Education Centre (Kansalaisopisto). Professional artists and experienced amateurs are able to rent the studio space for their personal creative production. The centre also maintains active international contacts.

Ratamo is situated in the Jyväskylä Veturitallit complex (former roundhouse) almost in the centre of the city and it is run by the Jyväskylä Art Museum (printmaking) and the Centre for Creative Photography (photography.

Brief description of residency program

Ratamo Printmaking and Photography Centre welcomes photographers to apply for two  1,5 month residencies in July-August and one residence in October-November.

Photography Centre’s residency program offers:

- free accommodation at the guest room in the city

- free working at the Ratamo’s facilities (except papers and special materials)

- a grant of 300 € for living and material costs

- a living local artists´ community
